Building a stitch and glue canoe with wouter. once that’s done all the cable ties are removed and a filet of thickened epoxy resin is applied to the joints on. I am building an oarling dory and have used plastic electricians cable ties to stitch it. i did the first seam at the bow as a test run and all worked well. i pulled about 20% of ties out at 24 hour mark..all came out easily but this morning at the 36 hour mark the epoxy had hardened more and half the rest have snapped off as they are held in. Plastic cable ties can be used instead of wire. many stitch and glue builders are finding these ties to be very convenient and faster to tighten..

Dudley dix yacht design. faq - stitch & glue dinghies. can i use plastic cable ties instead? i have successfully used cable ties for dinghy building.. Stitch and glue heron – hints and tips cable ties used to clamp side tank stringer while gluing 33. transom stiffener pieces also go in at this stage.. Using zip ties to hold the panels in place "stitch" we then use epoxy to "glue" the boat together..
